International Food Marketing Research Symposium

Since founding this academic conference in 2012, Mark has personally organized and chaired it eight times. This conference is recognized as the only dedicated forum for the presentation and discussion of academic research in the field of food marketing.

The conference occurs in different cities around the world in partnership with other universities that have a center or department of food marketing. Food marketing academics from as many as 25 countries attend this two-day conference to present peer-reviewed academic research papers focused on food marketing.

The conference was designed to provide a dedicated, regular forum where academic food marketers can meet to present their research in various stages of development (from working papers to completed papers) to advance the discipline of academic food marketing. It has also become one of the best forums for collaboration among food marketing researchers. The conference welcomes multidisciplinary research from quantitative and qualitative methodologies, consumer behavior and management perspectives, and the study of the entire food marketing process.

The conference has contact with over 7,000 food marketing academics internationally. The conference has been held at the following partner institutions.

  • School of Business, University of the Sunshine Coast, Sippy Downs, Australia, June 2019.

  • Department of Marketing, Bournemouth University, Bournemouth, UK, June 2018.

After producing and chairing the conference since 2012, leadership and management of the conference will transition from Mark to Klaus Grunert and Karen Brunso of the School of Business & Social Sciences, Aurhus University, Aarhus, Denmark. Klaus and Karen have been long term supporters and participants of the conference and are eminently suited to assume it.
